We even contacted corporate and never got a response. When we reported the doors that wouldn’t latch and the fire door handle that was nearly falling off, both the night and morning staff said they already knew. They also said some people bring pool floats in and sleep on them in the hallways or bathrooms. If management considers this acceptable, it should be stated on the website. People were able to come and go through the doors, and they did.

After an eight-hour drive, we found out the elevator was out and the only room available was on the third floor, so we hauled all our luggage up the stairs. The walls were paper thin, and the toilet made a loud squealing sound whenever it flushed or refilled. It also had a slow leak. There was a smoke alarm chirping somewhere, maybe in the hall or another room, and we could hear it constantly. There wasn’t a single usable port in the room, so bring a plug if you’re willing to stay.

We booked La Quinta because we’d stayed at the west Lakeland one before and liked it. This East Lakeland property was disgusting, from the condition of the building to the cleanliness and the night desk service. I can’t speak for the morning or midday staff. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else unless you have no other choice. When I came back to check in later that evening, the attendant asked my name, then said there was no reservation. I’d booked two weeks earlier, so I asked him to check again. He eventually found me, told me my room number, made a key card, slapped it on the counter without saying anything, and went back to staring at his screen. The second-floor room my girlfriend had first been given had its door ajar when she returned after checking in. They moved her and said it might have been housekeeping. On the third floor, white stuff covered the hallway and the room, as if neither had been vacuumed in months. The next night, Sunday at 10pm, a roach about the size of a grape tomato was scurrying on the stairs up to the third floor.

The worst part is that I still haven’t received confirmation that the manager will refund the rest of my stay, or even a basic apology. I checked out around 9PM on 10/10/2025 because roaches had gotten into my room. The front desk agent wrote that I checked out 10/11/2025 and should be refunded for the rest of the stay. That is a blatant lie. She knows I left on 10/10/25. The place has been dishonest and cruel. I was here alone for a week for work and a Doctorate residency, traveling from across the country, and ended up having to pack everything and find somewhere else for the last 5 days. Near the AC unit, the wall and carpet were damaged. While I was working at the desk, I felt something crawl over my feet. I shone my flashlight down and saw about 4-5 roaches coming out of the walls. It was terrifying. The room was foul: mold in the bathroom, lifted carpet along the walls, dirt in every corner, chipped and dirty walls, and dust everywhere. The hallways were stained, filthy, and smelled. I bought cleaning supplies just to feel comfortable, but that only helped so much. The final straw was all the roaches. I used to manage a Wyndham property, so I know the corporate expectations. This place cuts every corner, and management should be ashamed. I could have overlooked cosmetic flaws, but a Wyndham property needs a higher standard. This review is about management, not the staff. I didn’t argue or get upset, and I wouldn’t blame the front desk or staff. I didn’t ask to be compensated for the money I’d already paid. For locals or people staying one night, maybe it’s fine, but don’t risk it if you’re traveling from out of state, alone, or staying for a while. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
