Lake Rabun Hotel turned a painful day around for our family. We’d planned for months to celebrate Dad’s 80th birthday with 18 people at another nearby venue, a place that holds many family memories, including two of our weddings. When we got there, they said they had no reservation and couldn’t take our group. We were heartbroken, especially since family had come for the meal from Charleston, Rock Hill, Greenville, south Georgia, Athens, and Atlanta. We called Lake Rabun Hotel, and they welcomed us right away. They handled our large party with so much warmth and professionalism. Tony was our waitress and was attentive, kind, and organized. She made Dad feel special on his big day. What started as such a disappointment became a beautiful evening with incredible food and outstanding service. We’re so grateful they helped save this important family celebration.

The staff were very friendly, and we love the area, but we probably won’t return. We’ve stayed at this cozy, quaint hotel before and enjoyed it. This time, during our two-night anniversary stay, the shower had no hot water and very low pressure for the first night and following day. I told the desk clerk, who apologized and said she’d let the manager know. Thankfully, it was working on the day we left. Dinner was great, with top-notch drinks, on the first night. The second night, though, the food came out cold and undercooked.

Mickey and her team made our wedding reception at Lake Rabun Hotel feel intimate and magical. The historic lodge and forest set a romantic mood, and our guests loved the rustic look, cozy wood interiors, screened-in patios, and custom decorations with string lights, flowers, and vines. Mickey also fulfilled a custom request that went well beyond what my wife and I expected. The food was a highlight too. Every dish was distinctive, delicious, and well prepared, and guests are still talking about it. Restaurant staff took great care of everyone throughout the evening. The whole team showed real enthusiasm and care with the details. Planning was easy and stress-free, and their coordination on the day meant we could relax and enjoy it all.

We’ve been to Lake Rabun Hotel twice, years apart, and both visits were memorable. The first was a dinner; most recently, we came for a weekend getaway. Snow was forecast, so we drove to Lakemont and arrived a few hours ahead of it. The staff couldn’t have been more hospitable. The lodge’s rooms are on the small side, but there are plenty of comfortable places to sit and chat. As the snow piled up outside, several staff members stayed at the lodge too and assured us breakfast, the full restaurant menu, and a well-stocked bar with lovely seasonal cocktails would be available. We spent a wonderful weekend watching the snow fall beside the lobby fireplace. I was almost sorry the roads had been cleared enough for us to head back to everyday life the morning we left. I’d come here for a romantic break from the stresses of the world. Only sad thing is I can give it five stars at most.

The hotel is cozy and quaint, and we loved the upstairs coffee bar near our room. Breakfast was delicious both days. We also had to reschedule, and the staff were helpful and accommodating through the whole process. We’ll definitely come back for another mountain weekend.
