Sunlac Inn

The bar staff were very pleasant, but that won't make up for what has changed. After coming back for well over 40 years because of the breakfast, we found it had been discontinued. There were no clean towels, no maid service, and nobody around to ask about the laundry. Other Devils Lake motels cost the same and provide fresh towels every day, so this will be our last stay at the SunLac. It's sad to see the owners let the place go to hell.

Really enjoyed my stay in this cabin. It's right on the water, the staff were wonderful, and the food was decent.

I hurt my knee while in a nearby town and needed help getting in. They were more than willing to assist. The rooms were clean, and I highly recommend the new owners.

The food was great, and the tap beer was cold when they had some, but don't expect a classy place. The location just off the highway is the only good thing about staying here, especially since it's the only overnight option in town. Our room's floors seemed like they had never been washed, the beds weren't made daily, and room 118 had an elongated seat on a round toilet. I'd avoid that room unless they fix the seat. We liked the dining and bar, but service was poor. During a busy time when a family funeral brought many people to town, the staff didn't seem experienced or able to handle the crowd. The waitress left food at the end of the table for us to pass around, or asked who had ordered what so we could hand it over. One waiter even sat at our table to take the order. When I asked for an orange for my beer, the bartender brought it in his hand. There's new ownership, so I'm guessing the help is all new. I hope they work out the kinks. A uniform would help too, since it's hard to tell who works there, even a shirt for everyone.
