Quality Inn Lamar

The staff were extremely helpful, and the rooms were clean, nice, and comfortable. We had a great stay, especially enjoyed the waffles at breakfast. It was a perfect visit.

The sink pipes in my room and the hallway had a strong sewer smell. My heater nearly burned me out even on low, then after I switched it off and back on, it wouldn't get beyond lukewarm. It was late, so I didn't call the front desk. The doors are inside. I'd stay again if I had to, but otherwise I wouldn't. Breakfast was cereal and muffins, with no hot food.

I tried the hotel again in September, despite the bad reviews, after a July stay that left me unimpressed. The second-floor room was clean and comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and I slept as well as ever. Still, I didn't feel welcome either time. The service and atmosphere made me feel like a burden just for coming in or saying good morning. The parking lot had glass, beer bottles, and trash, and I worried about my car, checking on it whenever I woke up. Turning left out of the lot can also be tricky, so watch for the poorly marked median. Breakfast seemed to be toast and waffles, which was fine since I'm not much for breakfast. The coffee was pretty good, and that's all I care about. As a Platinum member, I'd say come for a sleep, not a stay.

We'd been traveling out west on vacation since August 24, 2025, staying in a different hotel almost every night, and this Quality Inn in Lamar, Colorado, was by far the worst of the trip. The room was hot enough to melt butter when we arrived, and I don't know when its air conditioner had last been switched on. There was no privacy curtain behind the main curtain, so people in the parking lot could see us and we could see them. The shower water changed temperature mid-shower. Breakfast was so poor that we needed to stop elsewhere to eat. I wouldn't charge my phone or anything else there, because it won't get charged in the room. One more thing about the layout: don't brush your teeth unless you're fully dressed, unless you want everyone walking down the hall to see you. The sink is right beside the door.
