Country Inn Lampasas

The rooms are fairly spacious and clean, but the furniture is outdated. It's also pretty noisy. You can hear every step from upstairs and every conversation outside your window.

The desk clerk was nice when I arrived and checked in, but the satellite TV and room phone didn't work. I didn't have my cell phone, so I walked to the desk to request a repair. That was my second request, and I never had a working TV or phone by 9 p.m. Friday night. People next door were having a drug party and kept me awake. I'd already paid for Saturday and Sunday, but while I was walking back to the desk, I saw drugs out in the open and a guy sitting on his car hood watching porn on his phone. His friends were about to start a barbecue over a patch of oil on the asphalt. Apparently the owner wanted the druggies there, because the police came and told me the owner wanted me to leave. I hadn't caused any disturbance. I had two animals with me and had to hit the road. The police were nice and helped me pack up. They don't want law-abiding citizens there, but it might be a good place to buy something illegal. Don't even slow down.

It's not a fancy place, but the price is fair and the accommodations are satisfactory. We took a chance on it for one night during our trip and weren't disappointed. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We would've liked an extra pillow or two, a hair dryer, and an iron, though not enough to lower our rating. We might have been able to ask the front desk for those things, but we didn't try.

I was so tired from driving, and the room was a welcome surprise. Check-in at the front desk made the room for me. It was very clean, including the kitchen, bed, and restroom, and there were no smells. The hot and cold water worked really well, and the AC and heat were good. HEB grocery, fast food, and local eateries are within walking distance, with gas stations and other familiar stores all around. The one thing I made the best of was a 10 a.m. knock from room service to remind me checkout was at 11. Huh, what? Oh well, that last bit of sleep was GOOD.
