We only booked here because every other place was full. The online price for three people was $107, but at check-in he said that was for one person and quoted $175 for three. Later I saw a $205 charge on my bank statement, even though he’d told me $175 as he took my card. The room stank of piss. Lights were falling off the ceiling, smelly broken mini fridges were stacked on other fridges, candy wrappers were wedged between the ceiling fan and ceiling to stop it rattling, and there was black mold under the sink. The shower looked like something I wouldn’t use even in a hazmat suit. We didn’t unpack because we didn’t want our things touching anything. We left the door and windows open to air it out, and a man walked in without warning to tell us to shut the door or pay extra for running the AC, even though we weren’t using it and it was 55° outside. After dinner we were lucky to find a room at the Wyndham for $155 for three people. We checked out only a few hours after arriving and asked for even a partial refund. He said he didn’t care if we’d been there five minutes, we’d signed the paper and he wouldn’t give us anything back. Don’t trust the pictures. There’s no pool, just a dilapidated fence around astroturf. This felt like a total tweaker motel. Avoid it, keep driving, or sleep in your car. I don’t know how it’s still operating when there are several other nice hotels in town for the same or lower price, or how it hasn’t been condemned given the condition.

On Memorial Day, after hundreds of miles on the emptiest road I’d ever seen, I limped into town with a flat trailer tire. It was late and the used tire shop was closed, so I pulled into the nearest place I could find. The gentleman there was friendly and accommodating, which I really appreciated. I got room #19 and could park right outside my door. It smelled clean when I walked in. The microwave, fridge, and carpet were clean, as were the bathroom and shower. The water was hot with great pressure, which felt especially good after two days in the car. The AC and heater both worked well. No bugs at all. There was a TV, but we didn’t watch it.

You get what you pay for here. The rates and location are the main draws. It’s an old place but doesn’t feel run down, and keeping up a property this age takes constant work. The staff seem to be doing a good job, and they’re friendly and quick. It’s no Ritz, but the beds are comfy when you’re tired and hot water comes almost right away in the morning. Don’t rely on the photos in the reviews, they’re four years old. The pool closed three years ago, so it’s definitely not a resort.

There’s plenty of space inside, but the Wi-Fi is very slow. The rooms smell like very old people, and the AC doesn’t do much for a two-bedroom room. Checkout is at 10 AM. We slept in, sorry, and the manager came to our room at 10:45 to get us out. He was really rude about it, and it almost caused a commotion between my family and the owner. Even with lots of rooms still available, he rushed us out, and his wife or sister started cleaning our room while we were loading the car. Not welcoming.

For a small, mom-and-pop style hotel, this is a fantastic option. Our room was clean and well kept, with two full-size beds and a twin. You can park right outside and walk straight in. The shower pressure was great too.
