Courtyard San Francisco Larkspur Landing/Marin County

The central Marin location is the one real advantage here. On my recent stay, the room was dated and dirty, with broken furniture, a finicky lock, no cover on the peephole, and ants in both the bathroom and the separate sink area. The room was far from the lobby on a remote side of the large property. Even though I saw only about a dozen cars in the lot, guests were put together on a crowded floor. As a solo female traveler, I didn't feel safe. I had to park near my room to avoid hauling my luggage across the property, then use a poorly lit side entrance that felt unsafe after dark. The doors slamming, ants, and safety concerns left me with very little sleep. I was exhausted after 14 hours of travel and stayed just one night. If I hadn't been so tired, or if I were staying longer, I would have left for another hotel. When I told the front desk about the ants, the agent said she'd tell maintenance to spray. At checkout, a different colleague had no record of that conversation or any maintenance note. Neither agent seemed concerned, which was a red flag for me. Customer service was poor overall, and the place needs a major renovation. The property also charges $15 a night for uncovered, plentiful parking, which felt like a shameless cash grab. Courtyards may be no frills, but I expect a clean, safe, updated room and consistency. I didn't get that at the Larkspur location, and I'd strongly suggest staying elsewhere, especially if traveling alone as a woman. There are other places in Marin; even SFO airport hotels such as SFO Grand Hyatt, Hyatt, etc. are better for quality, cleanliness, and safety, at comparable prices. I'm definitely not staying here again. I'm sharing this to warn others because I believe Marriott screens out poor reviews.

The parking fee caught me by surprise, and the guest rooms need updating. Cleanliness overall also fell short of standards. The front desk team, though, were attentive and courteous. I’d consider other properties next time.

We loved the comfortable, nice rooms and found the rates very reasonable. Room cleaning is available on request. The location is ideal for a weekend, right across from Marin Country Mart, with shops, restaurants, and a Saturday Farmers market. The Bay Area ferry is also within walking distance.

The room was spotless, with excellent linens and a mattress that made for a great night's sleep. Full blackout drapes helped, and the elevator and housekeeping staff were quiet. There was a coffee maker, fridge, shampoo, cream rinse, and extra pillows in the room. I enjoyed a late-night cup of tea, too. Breakfast is made to order in the lobby, looking out over the courtyard pool. The heated pool has fresh towels ready as you enter. Outside, scented eucalyptus trees make the grounds feel peaceful by the sea. The hotel is beside the ferry station to SF, and the ferry ride to San Francisco takes 25 minutes. Bikes are available to rent. Take the ferry into The City and enjoy life. Recommend.
