Homewood Suites by Hilton Las Vegas Airport

The location worked really well for the Strip and the places we wanted to go, and it's very convenient for returning a rental car. We had a King suite with a sofa bed, plenty of room, and good breakfast options with lots of seating. Staff were friendly and attentive. The facility was clean, if a little dated. We enjoyed the very clean pool, which didn't smell of chlorine or other chemicals. Since it was winter in Vegas and we're from Washington State, we basically had it to ourselves. Keep the pool person! The hot tub was small, and its broken jets only made bubbles while splashing quite a bit. The beds leaned closer to comfortable than not, but weren't the most comfortable. There was bubbling carpet in the third-floor hallway, at least, which could be a small tripping hazard. We'd stay again.

For seven days, the two-bedroom room with a small kitchen and sitting area was good value. Breakfast had a nice selection, the team kept the area in good shape, and the desk staff were mostly helpful. We also liked the outdoor sitting spaces. The location worked for us. The property needs some care, since furniture and fixtures show wear. The kitchen was nice, with a large fridge, microwave, and two-burner stove, but the coffee maker only made one or two cups. We were limited to three coffees a day, and housekeeping didn't replace them every day. At breakfast, a financial news channel was on each day until our last morning, when it was Fox News. I asked the front desk and was told it was just news. I found it divisive and controversial, especially on a Sunday morning when it was opinion. They did change it. Why not put on a network news show? We expected some jet noise, but not a truck repeatedly moving in a prime spot at 6 a.m. with loud reversing and engine sounds.

The breakfast left me frustrated. When I asked for boiled eggs, I was told they didn't have any, even though I've found them at places I consider less reputable than Hilton. Not everyone wants or can eat fried eggs. I then went for raisin bran and was told there were no bowls either. I've stayed at hotels I consider lesser and had healthier, better food choices. I chose Homewood Suites because it's part of Hilton and expected more for the money. The room was just okay, not what I expected, and the tissue box was empty when we arrived. The smoke detector kept going off while we showered, even with the bedroom ceiling fan running right beside the bathroom. There seemed to be a bathroom vent, but it didn't appear to work. It felt like a slightly better Motel 6. I could have paid less for a Strip hotel and had a better stay. Had I known, I wouldn't have booked here, and I won't spend my money here again.

The warm, kind staff did the best they could, and we thought they were great. But ownership needs to step up and put money into paint, wallpaper, furniture, soundproofing, and other basics to bring the property up to brand standards. This place needed a remodel a few years ago. We've stayed at many airport hotels and know they take more wear and tear, which owners need to account for.
