This was an emergency booking for a business trip, but plans with my client changed and I had to make other arrangements. The rooms are large, the place is decent and quiet, and the staff were professional and helpful. Police came by several times a day to check that things were safe. I guess there had been incidents that made the motel seem risky, but it stayed quiet and safe while I was there. Housekeeping worked hard, even in snow and rain. When I asked to have my room cleaned, they did it promptly and well, without any attitude. My ratings are about the room and its features, not housekeeping. I gave the room three stars and service four. The Wi-Fi was my first big problem. The signal was weak and unstable, and I had five to eight virtual meetings a day. I kept dropping out while presenting. The front desk said they couldn’t do anything, so I went elsewhere for meetings and used my phone as a hotspot, burning through my monthly data allowance in a week. Business guests need reliable internet. The motel should consider updating its equipment, perhaps to Wi-Fi 6 or 7 and a mesh network to improve coverage throughout the rooms. My other major issue was the very old AC and heating system. Its filter hadn’t been cleaned in ages and was so rotten it broke when maintenance tried to remove it. The unit seemed to blow dust into the room, and I started sneezing and getting itchy eyes, nose, and throat. I bought Swiffer products at Walmart and tried to clean, but dust spread everywhere. It was freezing, so I needed the heat despite the dust. I showed the buildup on my Swiffer pad to the front desk, and they sent maintenance, but he didn’t have a vacuum and couldn’t clean it properly. I had to dust enough myself to breathe safely. Management should inspect the old units, replace the filters, and clean them properly. I hope they take these reviews into account and improve the motel’s features for business guests.

NEW OWNERS!!! The motel is much better now, with new owners and staff. The front desk guys are friendly, fair, and understanding, and housekeeping and maintenance are prompt and efficient. They’re planning to change the name, update the rooms, and give the place a facelift. It’s quiet and private, with no traffic, fighting, or riffraff. That’s how I like it.

I was glad to find a reasonably priced motel around Troy, even though I didn’t expect much. But after a long drive, all I wanted was a clean bed, and the bed was full of curly pubic hairs. It had clearly been tucked in without being washed after the previous guest. Disgusting. They also still haven’t updated the hotel’s name after the change in ownership. Do better, even if your standards are low.

I knew the place didn’t seem to get much attention when I walked into a dark room and the switch didn’t work. I had to feel around for a lamp, and another lamp had a dead bulb, so the room stayed dim. There weren’t any cups either, so I couldn’t even have a drink. It was a pretty miserable stay, though I gave it two stars because it’s the cheapest motel nearby and I wasn’t expecting much.
