Golden Nugget Laughlin

I expected much better from the Golden Nugget in Laughlin. My wife and I booked four rooms and brought disabled family members. At check-in, even though we hadn’t paid yet, we were told we couldn’t use our players card. Two rooms had broken air conditioners. One was eventually repaired, but the other kept my family up all night, and the following day we had to leave the room for more than two hours while repairs were done. Then six security men approached us while we were quietly sitting in the smoking area by the pool and accused us of being homeless, even though we’d already stayed three nights. It was humiliating. We also didn’t get the points we should have earned. We spent over a thousand dollars on rooms and probably over four grand in total. I won’t be back and can’t recommend the place.

The toilet started leaking the evening after we arrived, and although staff later said it had been repaired, water kept coming out. I ended up putting a towel around its base to stop the water spreading. At checkout I told the front desk about that and the other problems during our stay. My husband and I had driven nearly 700 miles to the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino for a Mother’s Day weekend vacation. We’d reserved three nights in advance, but when I asked for a garden-view room, I was told none were available. In Room 148, the bathroom and hallway lights didn’t work, and neither did the air conditioning. Maintenance eventually fixed the lights, but never resolved the AC. After that long drive, I’d hoped to relax, but spent much of the visit dealing with maintenance issues. It was very disappointing, and I won’t stay there again.

Anthony at the bar deserves a special mention. We stopped for a drink before bed and he gave us great conversation, laughs, and warm hospitality. He made a show of each drink, explained the liquors he was using, and made sure everyone at the bar was served quickly and with a smile. You can tell he enjoys his work and being around people. He’s a real asset to the hotel and casino. If I’d met him before booking my wedding in Vegas, I might have held it in Laughlin so our family and friends could enjoy his bar too. My fiancé, son, father, and I were traveling through Laughlin and stayed at the Golden Nugget. Everyone there was friendly and the hospitality and customer care impressed us. We spent four nights at GN and were upgraded from a courtyard view to a river view, which was great. The room had laminate flooring instead of old, nasty carpet, and a nice walk-in shower with glass doors. My only concern was that it needed a grab bar. Check-in was easy, and staff were friendly throughout the casino. There was lots of cleaning happening, even pruning the palms by the entrance. The river view bar is closed for remodeling and will be for a few months, which was the only disappointment. This is our go-to place in Laughlin.
