Days Inn KU Lawrence

We stayed three nights and had a great experience. The rooms were spacious and clean, and housekeeping was great. They cleaned our room and replaced the towels while we were out. The woman who checked us in was so nice, and the price was affordable. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Lawrence.

Since the owner left a snarky response, I’ll spell out what was wrong. There were bugs in my room, the floor felt sticky like a restaurant floor, the sink counter hadn’t been wiped, and someone else’s hair was in the shower and on the bathroom floor. I bought a blanket and a new pillow and cocooned myself to avoid touching the gross room. I even wore socks in the shower. Thanks, Days Inn, for giving me that first. The owner says Days Inn saved me hundreds of dollars, but I still paid nearly $500 for a dump. I’d recommend Airbnb or Holiday Inn in Lawrence. I’ve stayed at Holiday Inn and it’s great, though it was booked this time. As other bad reviews and mine show, the owner’s replies don’t match the claim of great customer service. They’re defensive, as if they know the rooms are subpar. The cleaning crew is a sweet older couple, but they need to hand over their mops to someone more capable. I also took a selfie with the bugs, and bought that pillow and blanket, so I paid close to $550 in the end. What a bargain.

The price was low, the room was very clean with what looked like all new furniture, and it was quiet. Parking was right by our room, and the hotel is central with everything we needed close by. Rachael was busy checking us in but still very kind, and it felt like she genuinely cared. The male breakfast employee in the morning was the opposite, neither welcoming nor caring. That was our only complaint. We’ll still come back next year.

The room smelled strongly of pee. After I sat on the bed, I noticed it had a metal base, and then a disgusting bug crawled out from underneath. One lamp had what looked like dried blood on it, and the other seemed broken. I wondered if they’d decorated for Halloween. Service was awful, and the front desk was extremely rude, treating me like dirt. They told me I could park my U-Haul on the dirt area beside the hotel. I went off-road and nearly flipped the truck. I’d stay away.
