Holiday Inn Express and Suites Lawrence

We were extremely disappointed by how the hotel handled a serious sanitation issue, especially on Christmas. A young child in our room vomited on the floor. We cleaned what we could and called the front desk three times before anyone answered. When an employee finally came, she had only towels and a small linen bag and said they “don’t clean that.” She didn't have disinfectant or biohazard cleaner. When we asked how the room would normally be cleaned if a guest weren't there, she became dismissive, said she'd call management, threw her hands up, and walked away. I briefly went out to buy proper supplies. Her attitude made me uneasy about leaving our belongings, so I left a video chat running on my iPad. While I was gone, I saw her come in and wipe the affected area with a dry bath towel, which was completely unacceptable and unsanitary. Only after I returned and asked repeatedly did she come back with some kind of spray cleaner. The room still smelled like vomit. No one offered us another room, even though the hotel seemed mostly empty. We no longer felt comfortable staying, so we’re finding another hotel for the rest of the holiday. The whole thing was stressful, unsanitary, and handled without professionalism or care. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
