The river view from the window was great, but the stay itself made for a sleepless night. The chair was hard, and so was the bed. I arrived with leftovers and found there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. I thought I'd at least use the hotel's ice for my drinks, but the ice wasn't very good either. This is the first DoubleTree I've stayed at without a pool.

The phone and TV in our room didn't work, and there was no working shuttle to the casino. We told the front desk about the phone and TV before heading out for New Year's Eve, but nothing had been done when we got back at 1 a.m. We heard other guests had waited over an hour for the shuttle, so we got an Uber. We mentioned the two problems again when we returned, then maintenance started knocking at our door around 3 a.m. We were already trying to sleep and told him to go away. The bed was hard and the pillows had no support, so it was a restless night. We couldn't watch the Rose Bowl parade in the morning without a TV, and I was definitely ready to leave.

The restaurant did its best with a crowd of about 200, and the food was very good. Our group had been planned months ahead, but staff said they were used to handling around 50 people. We arrived Thursday, 10/16, at 9:30 pm and left Sunday, 10/19, at 7:00 am. They were understaffed and short on towels, face cloths, and hand towels throughout the stay. Housekeeping only tightened the covers and fluffed the pillows, without changing the linen. There was no mini-fridge or microwave.

The location is pretty good and the rooms are decent, but there are no refrigerators or microwaves. Weekends were a mess: hundreds of kids ran around screaming and yelling, banging on walls, playing door ding, and acting like they had no home training. This wasn't normal kid behavior. I've stayed in hotels for work 11 months of the year and never seen such a sh*tshow. I sincerely wouldn't stay here again.

Venus at the front desk made my stay extremely pleasant. I needed help with something, and she went the extra mile to handle my request, then checked back to make sure it had been taken care of.
