The breakfast was barely edible. The potatoes were cold, the sausage sat in grease, the eggs were strange, and some plates were dirty. The man running the area seemed to struggle with the physical work. I watched a guest search for him to ask for plates, then get handed a stack to put away. The hotel should do better, especially with a steady stream of customers for BCT and AIT graduations in Lawton. My $500 wasn’t worth it. Our suite gave us the space we needed, but it needed a lot of care and looked very dirty. The walls were dirty, used silverware had been put back in the drawer, and the furniture was worn. The beds need updating. The room smelled like it may once have been a smoking room, and one bathroom sink wouldn’t drain properly. Smelly trash was left on the floors. They say housekeeping comes every other day, but they clearly weren’t doing their job on those days. The claimed renovations don’t explain these problems.

For longer stays, the accommodations are substantial: there’s a range, full-size fridge, and powerful microwave. It isn’t cheap, but it’s a big step up from similarly priced hotels nearby, and probably the best value hotel I’ve stayed at. Maybe the best in Lawton. The chef knows her stuff, and the front desk attendants are capable. Malareece was especially helpful and diligent about maintaining the property. The staff are clearly managed well, and that helps create a culture that makes this hotel a top pick in the area.

The room was huge and fully equipped, even with a dishwasher, and everything was clean, including the bedding. Everyone on staff was friendly and caring. Evelyn put together a top-notch, delicious breakfast, and the rest of the kitchen staff were so accommodating. They went above and beyond. I was here for one night on a work trip and am looking forward to coming back.

We were charged the full room rate on Wednesday, before checking out on Thursday. Several things in our room weren’t working: the microwave, the AC in one half of the suite, and the bedroom TV. The front desk mentioned that moving us the next day might be possible, but in the end it wasn’t an option. Breakfast was sparse, though there was some variety for the kids. My oatmeal was cold. Later, when the kids wanted hot chocolate, the coffee bar water was lukewarm; the front desk did get them very hot water from the kitchen. The room did have a ceiling fan, which was a plus. When I went to use the computer, I was told the computers hadn’t worked for months. They didn’t know why, but said perhaps the owners didn’t want to pay the bill. We arrived late Tuesday night, planning to check out Thursday. The lobby and room looked nice at first. The location worked well for Army base graduation, with several places to go nearby. I’d wait until next summer, after the renovations, before staying here.

Evelyn made breakfast a highlight, especially with chipotle chicken breakfast tacos. There was also a free Wednesday social hour with food and alcohol. The whole stay was great, and the rate is under per diem for military travelers, so I’ll definitely stay again when I’m back in Lawton. The rooms are spacious, and the beds were among the most comfortable I’ve slept in, even compared with high-end hotels. A real gem in Lawton.
