The Black Swan Lee - Lenox, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We had a really nice room and a very quiet stay, even though the inn was packed and a highway runs above it. The place must be highly soundproofed. Everything was as clean as it could be, the staff were friendly, and the air conditioning and heating kept things comfortable. We chose a Lakeview room and recommend it for the little balcony overlooking the water. Maid service was excellent, and we made a point of tipping our maid. Breakfast was the one letdown, though we arrived pretty late. The bagels were very dry, the coffee in the dispenser had gone cold, and the pancake machine needed a new bag, so we didn’t get to see it working. The bagel toaster was spot on.

The Indian restaurant was nice, with good food and service. Our room had a beautiful lake view, and the bed was very comfortable, but there was dust above the headboard and on the bathroom door. We stayed three nights on the 1st floor, and every footstep from upstairs was so loud at night. Breakfast choices were limited: hard-boiled eggs from the fridge and prepackaged sandwiches from the microwave, with no hot food at all. We paid $192 a night for a “breakfast,” sorry. The furniture was very updated. You can rent a single kayak for $30/hour, not for free.

We had a clean room, and the rest of the motel was clean too. The Indian restaurant on site, Mint, is great. I enjoyed the espresso machine, and Rocky kept breakfast nicely stocked. I’ll stay again.

We’d stayed here many times over the years, but never again. We had one night booked a couple weeks ago through hotels.com, then a major snowstorm hit and we couldn’t make the three-hour drive. The hotel told me to contact hotels.com to cancel. They said they’d send the property a waiver request, but it was promptly denied. We were charged over $200 for missing the stay because of a snowstorm. Gross behavior, especially toward a longtime customer. Disappointed, to say the least.
