Montigo Inn

We were in town to pick up a rescue dog from Vernon parish animal shelter, and had boarded the dog at Entrance road veterinarian center until we got there. Our original motel booking didn’t work out because the room smelled strongly of cigarettes, so I checked the map and found this little gem instead. The woman at the counter was friendly and accommodating, and we had a great conversation. Our room was clean, with just a slight air freshener smell and definitely no cigarette odor. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft and clean. I chose it partly because the name Montego reminded me of the song Montego Bay, and I was hoping it would be a nice place. We’re extremely pleased we picked it. Thanks, Montego Inn, for making our stay so great! 😃

The staff were nice and the rate was decent for our two nights. When we first got to the room it smelled a little like cigarettes, but the odor went away pretty quickly. I’m assuming the guests before us hadn’t followed the rules.

The location is quiet, right in the middle of town, and we didn’t see any weirdos wandering around. I was really pleased with the room too. It was very clean, and room service came each day to tidy it and bring fresh towels. There was a decent-sized fridge, a microwave, a nice TV, and Wi-Fi, which was a definite plus.

The owners and staff were friendly, and compared with most motels this was actually better than I expected. The room was fairly clean, though we found an empty water bottle and some mystery rags when we checked in, and there were stains on the sheets. The microwave didn’t work and kept beeping at random during the night, so we unplugged it. There wasn’t a coffeemaker in the room either, which meant going to a nearby restaurant for coffee every morning. At least there are plenty of places to choose from.
