Radisson Hotel Lenexa Overland Park

The pool and huge hot tub were nice, and the place was clean, comfortable, affordable, and felt safe. There was also a bar/lounge and a little snack area, and we'd check for availability here next time we're in town. A couple of things went sideways. We arrived around 3:30, half an hour after check-in, and got a key promptly, but the room still hadn't been cleaned after the last guest. We had to leave for an appointment in 15 minutes, so we tucked our bags into a corner and told the desk. They first thought I meant the cleaning wasn't good enough. After I clarified, they seemed confused that we couldn't wait in the lobby with all our luggage. When we returned, the room had been cleaned beautifully. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choices for everyone. But the sausage warmer was empty. After I went back for some, I was asked for a ticket; I explained again that I only wanted sausage because it had run out. There were two staff discussions before I finally got a plate.

I had to clean the bathroom myself so I could bathe my children. The front desk had said someone would come up, but nobody did. This became one of the most frustrating, unprofessional hotel stays I've had, and I won't return. There was hair all over the bathroom floor when we arrived at the Radisson Hotel. I tried to report it by room phone, but its cord wasn't connected. My cell had no service inside, and the hotel's Wi-Fi wasn't working either. Downstairs, staff said they'd fix the phone later and send someone to clean. They blamed the Wi-Fi problem on a Spectrum outage, though I checked online and couldn't find any reported outage, so that explanation didn't seem true. With the dirty bathroom, broken phone, and unreliable Wi-Fi, I expected much better from a Radisson.

The rooms looked nothing like the online pictures, and one of the elevators was out, leaving everyone to use a tiny one. The pool and hot tub were murky, smelled moldy, and looked disgusting. Police kept showing up to deal with something or other. We couldn't sleep because the AC didn't work in either room we stayed in. I went to the front desk five times before we were moved to another room with the same problem. Absolutely miserable. I'd give negative stars if I could. Stay clear of this dump.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, but the desk attendant said they weren't available, even though the supervisor was standing right beside her. I recognized him because he'd helped me earlier that weekend by turning up the jacuzzi. This was the second week in a row I'd been treated badly at checkout over a misunderstanding that should have been easy to sort out. I tried explaining it, but the attendant brushed me off instead of listening. When I spoke with the supervisor, he said it was okay and that he'd trained staff to bang on customers' doors. I told him that wasn't okay. My situation also seemed to be judged based on other people's experiences. The poor communication and dishonesty from management made what had been a good experience a horrible one. I expect hotel staff to treat me better and be transparent when I'm trying to resolve something respectfully.
