Best Inn Texas

The room was filthy from the moment I walked in. There were bugs, dirty counters, a disgusting shower with a clogged head full of buildup, and floors so dirty I bought cleaning supplies and scrubbed them on my hands and knees. I was itching so much I sprayed the bed with rubbing alcohol, then bought sheets and blankets so I could sleep. The old linens had hair all over them, including the pillows, and my new slippers had black soles after one night. The sink water was barely warm and the aerator was missing. The door looked nailed together, and the windows had cracked glass. The room smelled awful and this place clearly had not been redone well, if it was redone at all. Absolutely the worst place I’ve stayed. Yuck.

The room was comfortable, clean, and well cared for. It could use a couple of basics, though, like an iron and a chair for the desk.

We were really happy with the stay and the reasonable price. It’s about 30 minutes from Lubbock, which worked well for a big event there when we wanted somewhere quiet and affordable. This is a great mom-and-pop motel, with a calm atmosphere and very clean rooms. Ours was roomy enough to move around easily, especially helpful with kids, and had more space than some chain hotels. There’s a microwave, ice machine, and a roughly five-foot fridge with a freezer on top, so you can keep more in it than in a standard mini fridge. There’s also a grassy spot for grilling. We’ll definitely come back.

For $80, I’d go to one of the bigger hotels. The outside smelled strongly of weed, and drunk guys stared at me when I was just walking to my car. The night clerk didn’t help us. Our comforter was stained, dead roaches were in the corners, and the room smelled like dirty feet and smoke. The tub looked clean but had a chemical smell. Housemaids were smoking before going into rooms, and one was rude and rolled her eyes when we asked for something while she was smoking. Later she drove by the hotel trying to talk to us, but she seemed so drunk we couldn’t understand her. She had on a tank top and what looked like panties, and blew weed smoke in our faces. We won’t stay here again.
