The view was great, but the stay was stressful and full of unnecessary hassle. I just wanted to relax on the coast and didn’t. The front desk staff were polite, and the next morning they explained that the website details were from an older version of the hotel, before renovations, when all rooms were oceanfront. That did make me feel a little better about the experience. I found the official Lincoln Sands website while researching ocean-view rooms. It said every room was oceanfront, and clicking “book now” sent me to Choice Hotels to confirm. When I arrived, my room wasn’t oceanfront. They asked me to show how I’d gotten that impression, then told me, in no uncertain terms, that the site had false advertising. I asked about the price difference between rooms and agreed to the charge. Then the front desk person said they’d give me a discount. When I checked my card later, I’d been charged the full amount, with no discount. The next morning, the rainfall shower head sprayed water up to the ceiling. I turned it off and mentioned it when I went down to check out. Having the shower fail in the room we’d paid extra for was the cherry on top.
