Franconia Notch Motel

Room 11 has bed bugs. When we asked the woman to move us, she said we were lying, even though they were visible running around under the mattress. She came over, saw them for herself, and immediately gave us another room. If that's the kind of stay you want, come here.

For the price, this is a great deal. The rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. This is my second year staying here, and I'll definitely return. It's underrated.

We stayed two nights. The place was quiet, and having the river nearby was a plus, but the room was advertised as having air conditioning and it didn't work when it got muggy. I unplugged it and reset it, still nothing. I was also looking forward to a bath with salts, but the tub had a ring of scum. It was obvious nobody had scrubbed it. Gross.

I've stayed here more than ten times over the past 10-plus years, probably more, and every visit has been a really positive experience. It's been my inexpensive White Mountains go-to for almost 15 years. The rooms have always been so clean, and the owners are lovely and helpful. The location is outstanding, right beside the brook. My husband calls it that great motel next to the water. Having a microwave and refrigerator is handy, and with the price, it's an outstanding value. I hardly ever leave Google reviews, but the negative ones surprised me enough that I wanted to say something. They make me wonder if those reviewers have another motive.
