Days Inn Lincolnton

We got there at 4 AM after a night out, and by 11 that same morning we were being told to leave. I went to the bathroom after check-in and found hair in the tub and on the floor, plus the towels weren’t body friendly. The room floor was filthy with dirt and grime everywhere, though the bed was okay. We were asleep with our newborn beside us when housekeeping first banged on the door. The woman left, then came back with someone else, who banged again and woke us all up, saying we had to leave at 11 so they could clean the room. My fiancé went to the desk because we thought we had the room until the next day. He was told checkout was at 11 and we’d have to pay for another night. This was completely stupid and unprofessional. I’m definitely disputing the charge with my bank.

I woke up early and just wanted to get out of this depressing dump. I travel for work and stay in plenty of $80 hotels, and this was by far the worst place I’ve been in six years. I’d read the reviews and seen the pictures, and thought I could deal with it. The lobby was full of junk that belonged in storage, and nobody was at the desk. That should’ve been my cue to leave. Check-in itself was fine, though the woman repeatedly mentioned the security deposit, no smoking, and no pets, none of which applied to me. It took a while to get a working key. As soon as I entered the room, it reeked of wet dog and cigarettes. Walking around, I felt briefly depressed about having booked it. The pictures can show the rest. I stopped looking for problems and just tried to get through the night. The office attendant was missing again in the morning when I went looking for coffee, and I realized there wasn’t going to be breakfast. I passed their nice AMG Mercedes while dropping off the key and asked someone going inside if there was any coffee. He took me to a dark room with a neglected coffee station. I poured the coffee out. I didn’t trust the place. It’s clear the owners don’t give 2 S's about the customer experience. Spend an extra 20 and stay around the corner. Your mental health is worth it.

The manager was very nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again. My room was filthy, and the one we were moved to was only a little cleaner, still not really clean. There wasn’t a coffee machine in the room. I probably wouldn’t have used one anyway given how dirty everything else was, though there was coffee in the office.

I ended up leaving in the middle of the night with a day still left on my stay because I no longer felt okay sleeping there. I’d seen one small roach around 1 AM and killed it, thinking it was a one-off, then spotted a second and a third. The room had seemed solid and comfortable before that. The desk guy was friendly, and I did laundry onsite; the machines were well kept. It wasn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed at, but it got more disappointing as the stay went on. Not awful, just disappointing.
