Point Lookout

The beds are the one reason we might hesitate to return. My husband travels for work and can usually sleep anywhere, but he struggled. I have chronic health issues and barely slept. For the last night and a half, I moved to the couch because it was more comfortable. The bed in the second bedroom was just as bad. If you’re driving, bring a memory foam or pillow-top mattress pad, and you should be fine. Otherwise, we loved the place. The cabins are nicely decorated and well equipped, with a lovely location and a decent amount of space between them. You can hear neighbors chatting on their porches, and at night you might see inside if their blinds are open, though I wouldn’t say they’re too close together. We had an issue with the refrigerator, and when my husband texted, the team brought a new one within three hours. They called to say when they’d arrive, cleaned up all the Styrofoam, and helped me restock the fridge. The hike to the lake is steep and felt like five miles, but the calm water and fall leaves made it worth it. The staff were amazing and helpful throughout.

The cabin was cute, but Vacasa’s customer service was atrocious. Their data collection and all the hoops they make clients jump through felt excessive, time-consuming, and off-putting. Then they charged us for two cabins when we wanted one and made us prove the mistake was theirs. It took more than an hour and a half and several customer service reps before someone finally listened and helped. You can find a cute cabin elsewhere without this kind of headache. I wish I had booked somewhere else.

We had a comfortable, well-furnished cabin with two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There was an outdoor fireplace with a few logs ready to burn, plus electric heat and a propane stove and fireplace inside. The screened porch had Adirondack chairs for sitting outside, and though we didn’t try the hiking trails, they’re accessible from the property. There’s a concrete parking pad at each cabin and very good internet. The grounds are spacious and well kept, with cabins scattered around the property. Point Lookout worked well for our three-day stay, halfway between Camden and Belfast. If you don’t need a water view, it’s a nice place and worth the price. We’ll be back.

We loved the fire pit and used it every night. There’s wood provided, though not much, and you can buy more at the registration center or along the drive up. The property also has plenty of well-marked hiking trails, including a trailhead right across from Bobcat Cabin 99, plus a soccer field, basketball court, volleyball, and a full indoor gym. The cabin was immaculate and had what we needed for a mid-coast Maine getaway. Beds were very comfortable, with separate temperature controls for heat and AC, and the gas fireplace puts out a lot of warmth. The full kitchen has adequate cookware and utensils, but there are limited dishes and no dishwasher, so paper plates and bowls might be useful. Bring trash bags, too, since only a few were left. Our grill was in rough shape, so take a portable one if you plan to barbecue. Bathrooms are basic but fine, with soap, shampoo, and conditioner supplied. The amenities and location near local attractions and restaurants make this a great place to get away.
