Apple Tree Inn Tyler Lindale

My daughter and I had a hard time resting here. The room had a musty, mildew smell, like an old house with water damage, smoke, and pets. I checked the bed for bugs and didn't see any, so I felt somewhat safe sleeping, but I stayed fully dressed and used only the sheets. The smell and my uneasiness kept me awake. The carpet felt strange, so I kept our bags off the floor, putting one in a garbage sack and our sleeping clothes in another, just in case. The sheets and pillowcases were clean, though I noticed what looked like mold or stains on the bed box near the headboard while checking for bugs. I forgot to take pictures. We chose it because we were tired from traveling and needed somewhere nearby, pet friendly, bug free, and within budget. The reviews seemed okay compared with other places, and this one had availability when the others didn't. On arrival, the main building door was locked. There was a small separated entry with a window and a slot to sign the bill and get the room key. It didn't feel welcoming. Outside seemed somewhat safe, but we were put at the far back of the hotel and I felt uneasy. The place seemed to be occupied by road crew workers in the area. When we left, we returned the key through the same slot, and someone came around the corner as we walked to the car. I wouldn't stay again. I had very little peace of mind, and the odor kept both me and my daughter awake.

It’s an older place, sure, but it was quiet and clean, with no bugs. The price was reasonable and the people were nice. A good place to stay.

This is just what I want from a budget stay: a clean, safe room with Wi-Fi. The service was kind, the room felt homey, and it’s nice being able to support a small business.

I've been on the road for work for about five years and this is the top hotel on my list. The staff have always been respectful and nice, and the rooms are a good size. I believe they've been remodeled recently. There's also plenty of space to park trucks. I never locked my truck or toolbox and nothing was ever disturbed. You don't see people walking around who aren't staying there, and police drive through at random during the night. I don't think there's much crime in the area. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting here.
