Homewood Suites by Hilton Baltimore-BWI Airport

We had paid for our room weeks ahead, but when we arrived, the room we booked wasn’t available. Traveling with five people, we were given a much smaller room with one bed and a sofa bed, which clearly wasn’t enough. After a long travel day, we just wanted to shower, eat, and sleep. The property was in rough shape. The bathroom sink wouldn’t drain, the HVAC vent was rusted and hanging off its hinges, and the heat didn’t work. The room was 58 degrees. I went to the desk to request a room with heat, then the fire alarm went off and water began leaking from the ceiling. About an hour later, after the fire department arrived, the lobby had around two inches of water in it. They told us water to the whole building would be shut off for at least four hours while they waited for a plumber to diagnose the problem. It was nearly 8:00 PM by then. We packed up and moved to the Embassy Suites down the street. A broken pipe had caused the alarm and flooding, and other guests told us their rooms were freezing too. The building is falling apart. Paying in advance doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the room you reserved. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I rarely leave a bad review, but this place was appalling. The hotel felt like it was falling apart, with walls and baseboards peeling or coming loose. Staff were extremely rude, our outlets didn’t work for charging phones, and the heat was out all night. Stink bugs were all over the walls and ceiling, and the pool was closed. It was a horrible stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it. When I asked for my money back, they said that wasn’t possible and gave me points instead. Those points still haven’t appeared in my account. One star isn’t low enough.

They didn’t have the room we reserved and put us in one with very beat-up old furniture. There was no heat, and of the two space heaters, only one worked. The carpet was dirty, the shower and curtain setup caused the bathroom to flood, and breakfast included cheap smoked sausages. This didn’t come close to basic hotel standards.

The hotel’s AC was off, and my room was so hot they brought a box fan and opened the window. Other guests told me they had no heat; one had tried switching rooms and another bought a space heater. A maintenance woman said the hotel was old and guests couldn’t control the AC or heat in their rooms. My ceiling fan was broken too, and after it was repaired, it only ran on high. One guest with a space heater said the property was a franchise and not run by Hilton, which they thought explained the lower-than-Hilton quality.
