Hyatt Place Baltimore/BWI Airport

The lobby, TV nook, kitchen, and dining room were clean and pleasant, and the location is convenient with restaurants nearby. Breakfast was hot and had a bit of variety. The hotel is still being renovated, and it should be special when the work is done. There were cold drafts from construction on both sides and from the front door constantly opening, especially during breakfast. The packed parking lot had even fewer spaces because snow hadn’t been plowed. Our room didn’t start with enough towels, and I don’t think that was ever fixed. Housekeeping staff seemed anxious and were always working; one walked into our room while we were asleep, which startled us. The front desk didn’t know the loyalty-level perks, though I think we worked it out. Bill charges only showed when something was bought, like breakfast, lunch, or dinner, rather than what it was for, which seemed odd. Starbucks coffee products were offered, but we never saw a full menu.

I stayed one night and won’t be back. The fridge didn’t work, so I couldn’t keep my water cold, and the room smelled musty. The hotel looks rundown, and I’m not sure if renovations are still underway. The bed was the one bright spot: the sheets smelled good, were clean, and the bed was comfortable. I went down for breakfast at 6:30am. Most of it was hot, with some variety: boiled and scrambled eggs, bacon, bagels, and orange juice. The rest of the stay was a disappointment.

I was stranded at Baltimore airport after a Caribbean cruise and managed to get a room for the night. I had no winter clothes, and it was 22° with snow on the ground. Everyone was wonderful, from the shuttle driver to the hotel staff. My driver arrived promptly and turned up the heater to warm me quickly.

The recently renovated rooms are clean, with comfortable beds and a cozy suite-style apartment layout. There are also nice multipurpose spaces. The location works well between Baltimore and DC, and it was perfect for a quick two-night trip. I’ll be back.
