We’ll be back. Our Memorial Day trip was peaceful, and the community was quiet and well kept. Affordable Large Properties was attentive to what we needed, and the large properties were affordable and convenient. Restaurants were close by, and the beach was less than 35 minutes away. They also have a golf package through a third-party service.

We spent a month there, and the neighbors were friendly. The area felt safe, but I wouldn’t rent from this company again. The carpet was filthy, stained, and smelled terrible, and nothing in the unit seemed to have been updated since it was built. The cleaning was poor too: there was hair around the bathroom, and the tub looked dirty and felt slimy, so I couldn’t tell if it had been washed. My first shower left me standing in three inches of water, and my husband had to plunge the drain. One bed was comfortable, but the other three seemed to sit on slanted planks. At least the mattress covers and bedding were clean. The place sleeps eight in four double beds, yet they supplied only six towels, washcloths, and hand towels. Were we meant to share? Of the two vacuum cleaners, one did nothing, and the other seemed to blow out as much dust as it picked up. I’m giving it one star only because the rating system wouldn’t let me give zero.

The location was convenient for golf and dining, and the unit itself was clean. Still, it needs renovation, and the carpets were pretty grungy. When we used the upstairs tub for a bath, water drained into the living room. It looked like this had happened before, since there was a split in the ceiling drywall where water had come through.

We stayed in 102A, which was close to North Myrtle Beach and in a good location. The kitchen was well equipped, and with two beds in each room we could fit the whole family. But the carpet had terrible stains, one dining chair was broken, and both tubs drained very slowly. We reported the drain problem, but it was never fixed during our stay. There weren’t any starter toiletries either.

The staff at affordable large properties kept checking in by text to see if we needed anything and were enjoying our stay. We had a quiet weekend at the Village at the Glens, with restaurants and stores in the North Myrtle Beach area nearby and no busy traffic. The single beds in both bedrooms and the worn, dirty carpet and furniture kept it from being five stars. For the price, though, it was a great place to stay, and I’d rent again.
