The noise made it impossible to sleep. Music from the restaurant downstairs and loud patrons carried on until 4:00 AM, and their voices sounded as if they were right in our room. In the morning, nobody was at the front desk when we checked out. We wanted to talk to someone about the stay, but had to leave for an appointment. We stayed one night on January 17 at the Historic Fallon Hotel, and the experience was one of the worst we’ve had. Check-in was a frustrating start: no one came to the desk when we rang the bell several times, so we called twice before someone appeared. Then a “technical issue” delayed the process. The room didn’t match the “beautiful rooms” description, and the view wasn’t the “breathtaking” one advertised. We looked out over the restaurant roof and visibly deteriorating parts of the building. The wood trim looked like it was made from scrap pieces, towels sat in a basket on the floor, and there were visible gaps around the improperly sealed window. The shower took a long time to heat up and dripped loudly all night. We understand it’s an older historic building, but that doesn’t excuse the poor room condition, excessive noise, and lack of basic guest service, especially at the premium rate we paid. We were thoroughly disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stay.

We left immediately and never stayed the night. While a thunderstorm was going on, I went downstairs to order food, but there was nobody in the bar or restaurant. I ordered appetizers, and they took far too long. I told my son to bring our luggage down, then called another nearby hotel. They felt sorry for us and gave us an exceptional price. I know I probably won’t get my money back, but I’ll try. Leaving was well worth it. We’d parked behind the building by the dumpsters, with no signs showing where to park or where the hotel was. Walking to the front through an alley, my 16-year-old son said it didn’t feel safe. The lobby was in shambles, and nobody was at the desk. I called a number, and eventually a woman came out. She was friendly, but the overwhelming mold smell was awful. The room was small, with just a bed. There were only two outlets, nowhere near the bed, so I couldn’t use my CPAP machine. The bathroom was disgusting, and my son said he wouldn’t shower there because he’d come out dirtier. The door lock was broken and seemed like it could be forced open with a shoulder. The uneven floorboards made me stumble. In the bar area, the two women I spoke to were dressed very inappropriately. It looked more like a strip club than a dance club.

As an LHU alum, I’d really been looking forward to staying here. I booked the Cabin Suite online for one night and was charged $200, with the funds taken from my account. Shortly afterward, I got an email saying the reservation had been canceled. The hotel told me by phone that there was no availability and the booking had been made in error. Now I have no reservation, no funds, and nowhere comparable to stay. If no rooms are available, they shouldn’t take payment. Do better.

I arrived in Lock Haven cold and wet after driving through the year’s snow and ice storm and stopping for gas. This was the only place I could find. The owners were very nice and are trying to restore the Fallon Hotel to what it was from the 1800s to 1982. I loved the nostalgic feel, though I’m afraid their dream will take a lot of hard work and money. God love those two lovely people. I wish them all the luck in the world.

It was locked up when I arrived at 3:30 PM on check-in day. The place is an unkept dump, and I’d sleep in my car before staying here again. Don’t waste your money.
