Best Western Countryside Inn

We picked this hotel for its value and easy access to I-90, and it beat the other three hotels we stayed at during seven days across Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois. At $68 a night, it was the cheapest stop, yet nothing felt missing. The room was cozy and spacious, with an easy-to-adjust heating and cooling unit, a TV, fridge, microwave, and toiletries. The accommodations seemed recently remodeled and were clean. The continental breakfast was the usual mix of cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit, a waffle maker, and a couple of hot options, eggs and sausage when we were there. The real standout was the staff member who seemed to be handling everything, possibly including the front desk. He kept food, dishes, and utensils stocked, and cleaned the tables and serving area as guests came and went. He was on top of it all, while staff at a couple of our other hotels seemed overwhelmed and ran out of things. There are plenty of places to eat within four miles, including a few fast-food options next door at the gas station. We recommend Badger Den. The hotel exceeded what we expected for the price, the staff were friendly and hardworking, and we'd definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful family stay at the Quality Inn in Lodi with our kids. The pool was a big hit, and we found the room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and convenient, and the staff were so friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. We're glad we chose this hotel and highly recommend it for families.

The hot breakfast was decent, though the choices were limited. Our king room and bathroom were both spacious and clean, and even the hallway smelled nice. It's a good option for travelers, very close to the highway.

COCKROACHES! I saw these bugs shortly after getting into my room and even checked their appearance with a Google image search to make sure I wasn't imagining it. I grabbed my luggage right away, went to the front desk, and showed the pictures to the man there. He apologized and offered another room, but when I asked for a refund because I couldn't risk staying, he replied, “What risk?” If you can see cockroaches, I believe that means there's a full infestation, and the eggs aren't visible to the naked eye. My wife is allergic to roaches, and I have severe asthma, which roaches are known to make worse. It was a risk I couldn't take, and nobody should have to take it. Not offering a refund over something as disgusting and uninhabitable as a cockroach infestation is unacceptable. I'll never come back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
