Blue Gentian Lodge at Magic Mountain

It has that old-school mountain lodge feel, not the usual corporate motel setup, and the guests are generally on vacation and in good spirits, saying good morning and all that. Lisa is lovely, makes a great breakfast, and knows the area well. She suggested a couple of easy hikes while I was there. The room and bedding were clean, and I slept as well as I can at my age.

The three-bed room worked perfectly for our family, and the landscaping, views, and pool were amazing. Breakfast was included and much better than what you’d usually get at a hotel. The service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. Just note there’s no AC, though our room had a fan. A larger group might want to bring extra fans.

We slept comfortably after days on the nearby ski mountains, thanks to the comfy beds. The owners were very nice, and the place has rustic charm, cute decor, and three lovely cats in the lobby. It’s a clean, cute motel-style hotel, runs entirely on solar power, and had plenty of hot water. We just wished breakfast began before 8, since we were already at the mountain by then.

The innkeepers were friendly, and the breakfast they made for guests was delicious. We also enjoyed the cozy fireplace and the ping-pong table available for everyone to use. My girlfriend and I stayed two nights to ski. It was bitterly cold outside, down to -18, but the room heaters and bathroom heaters kept us warm, and the beds were really comfortable. And please don’t smoke in the rooms. It’s against the law in Vermont. Ignore those bad reviews below.
