Long Beach Motel

I was waiting for my apartment to open up, so I needed somewhere for a couple of nights and booked this motel at the last minute. I didn't even make it past two hours there. It was appalling. I reported the place to health and safety. The photos I took say plenty. I wouldn't stay here unless you want to risk disease or bedbug bites. I can't imagine anyone choosing to stay here willingly. I would have rated it zero if I could.

The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating, and there are plenty of shops and places to eat a short walk away. There's also a mini-mart just across the street. For what I paid, it felt like good value, and the place was clean and quiet, which I appreciated. I was hesitant after reading the bad reviews, but this was central to where I needed to go and within my budget. The rooms are roomy and have a microwave, mini-fridge, and cable TV. The linens and towels were clean, too. My complaints were just about appearance. One room had worn curtains and a carpet stain. In the second, there was a hole in the wall, as if the doorknob had hit it when someone flung the door open, plus a hole in the bathroom door.

If all you need is a place to sleep, I guess it works. But I felt really uncomfortable. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, the floor looked dirty and unswept, and there weren't any towels or toilet paper in the bathroom. Paint on the ceiling was peeling and looked moldy. The bathroom mirror looked like something was smeared on it, and there was writing on the walls where clothes hang, which honestly looked like gang writing. I also found loose screws and little random objects on the floor.

The room was a decent size, but it smelled old and kept smelling of cigarettes. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and there were only three pillows for two people. The toilet had rust all over it, and dead bugs were on the bathroom floor. At $95 for one night, I felt the room wasn't worth anything close to that, maybe $40 a night.
