El Royale Gardens Near Universal Studios

Xavier made our last-minute spring break trip with my son easy from the start. Our flight got in around 10:30 a.m., far ahead of the 4 p.m. check-in, and he stored our bags while we went to Universal Studios. He’d even mapped out the 10-minute walk and shared tips for nearby attractions. There’s also a shuttle just after the skywalk that takes you to Universal and back. We didn’t get back until 9 p.m., and everything was ready for us. I suspect they stayed late to make sure we were looked after. We’d booked a king, but they kindly upgraded us to two queen beds. The room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. Thanks to Xavier and Robert for making the trip memorable. We’ll be back!

The staff were especially friendly, and some spoke Spanish. Our room was comfortable and well kept, and having parking available was convenient. They also helped us with directions to Universal and other local attractions. It was a pleasant place to stay for a trip to Universal Hollywood.

I felt unsafe after a distressing encounter at El Royale Gardens Near Universal Studios, California. My husband booked and paid through Booking.com. The night before check-in, I called and was told early check-in would be available from 11:00 AM because of Universal Horror Nights. At the property, the front desk employee, who identified himself only as *Joe*, immediately became hostile and said the payment hadn’t gone through, despite our confirmed booking. I offered my husband’s credit card, but *Joe* refused because my husband wasn’t there. I then offered my own card with a PIN, but he also refused it because I didn’t have my physical ID, even though I could show a clear photo of it on my phone. When I calmly reminded him what I’d been told on the phone, he said he didn’t care what anyone had told me and that no room was available. He grew more aggressive, accused me of trying to manipulate him, and said I wasn’t welcome. When I asked for a manager, he refused and ordered me to leave in an intimidating, confrontational way. I’ve worked in hospitality for many years and have never seen a guest treated with such disrespect. The experience was deeply upsetting.

The hosts were welcoming and gave us recommendations for the area. We stayed three nights, and the room was clean and comfortable. It’s right next to universal studio, which made the location great. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.
