Gjelina Hotel

For three nights at Gjelina Hotel, I had a really enjoyable stay. The room was small but quite enough for me, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were super friendly and made the place feel warm and personal, more so than a typical hotel. I appreciated the thoughtful extras, including beach towels, earplugs, and good quality shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries. It’s an excellent location, just a short walk from the beach and Venice Boardwalk. I’d recommend Gjelina Hotel for a comfortable, stylish stay in Venice. 😊

The comforter held onto heat like crazy, probably because it was a bad synthetic. Other than that, wow, what a stunning place. I paid extra for an upstairs room and think it was probably worth it. I’ve stayed everywhere, and this place has real style, comfort, and class. Mine was large, upstairs, and spacious enough for 2-3 folk. I’d asked for a quiet room and it was mostly quiet, though I could hear planes at night and a constant generator. The downstairs rooms looked small and utilitarian, but still stylish and perfectly adequate.

The location made this basic room a good choice for our one-night LA stopover, with Venice Beach right outside. It was small but clean and nicely presented, and the staff helped us out with good local restaurant recommendations. We were disappointed by the so-called continental breakfast. It was just a croissant and tea or coffee, and they couldn’t even provide butter. We’ve travelled far and wide, and that doesn’t count as continental breakfast. Including it in the price feels like false marketing. Gjelina, you can do better!

Jay handled our check-in efficiently and offered useful tips for restaurants and local massage services. While I was in the lobby, I saw Eric answer calls and help guests with care, and he clearly knew the area well. The standard rooms are compact, but have good linens and comfortable amenities. The beachfront boutique hotel is pleasant, and despite being close to the beach it’s fairly quiet. Earplugs and a white noise machine are available for extra comfort. Breakfast is served daily in the common area: coffee, juice, and gourmet croissants. You can also eat on the terrace with an ocean view. A room key is needed to enter the lobby because the front desk isn’t staffed all the time, though a security officer is there in the evening.
