Good Nite Inn Sylmar

The room was neat and clean, better than I expected for a budget place, and parking was easy. The front desk employee was really friendly. You can hear a lot of noise from the I-5 right next door. I sleep pretty soundly, so it didn't bother me, but anyone sensitive to noise might want to reconsider. The bed was tolerable and I slept fine, though I could feel the springs and it wasn't especially comfortable.

The front desk people were kind, and the building is old but the rooms are big. Getting to the highway was easy, and it was pretty quiet, though that may depend on where your room is. For the price, it's a nice place. Our bathtub was clogged the first night and they fixed it the next morning, but the bathroom still wasn't cleaned. They made the beds and took out the trash. There's no fridge or microwave in the room, just an ice machine outside and a microwave beside it. Also, no elevator, which matters if you're on the third floor and don't want to take the stairs.

I ended up in room 322 after checking room 317 and finding a bad, water-damage-like smell there. I wasn't expecting much, given the area and the people I saw hanging around the parking lot, but the stay wasn't bad. The replacement room was fairly clean, and the other guests were quiet. My room faced the freeway, so it was pretty noisy, but overall it was decent.

The staff were courteous and friendly, and I didn't see anyone hanging around the parking lot or stairwells, or any drug dealers or other undesirables. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the freeway noise was tolerable. It's a roadside spot for people traveling who need somewhere quick and inexpensive. It's no Hilton, but for what you pay, it's very good. I have no complaints about my stay.
