Hollywood Palms Inn and Suites

I thought this was the hotel I’d booked through Groupon, but I had the wrong place. They gave me a key and a room, so I left my bags there and went out for an hour. When I returned, the key didn’t work. At the front office I figured out the mix-up, and they told me I couldn’t get my bags without paying. I ended up paying them as well as for the hotel I’d actually booked, even though I never slept in the bed and had only put my bags in the room. I should’ve called the police. I’ll take this review down if I get my $150 back.

The room looked upgraded at first glance, but it smelled odd, and the place was a piece of work. Management watches guests very closely, with cameras everywhere, and felt extremely nosey. At checkout they called to rudely remind me of the time, like I was in middle school and needed to be told I had 45 minutes left. Check-in was a hassle too: they require a $200 cash deposit, which is weird and inconvenient to learn only after arriving, since I then had to find a bank and come back. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The floors stayed incredibly dirty, and the room smelled awful the whole time. They cleaned every day, but everything still felt dusty and unclean. The whole place also smelled of curry and Indian food because, as I understood it, staff cooked their own meals in neighboring rooms. If you’re not from India, you simply won’t be able to sleep here. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

The room smelled terrible, and the person at the front desk was easily the rudest I’ve ever dealt with. They wanted a $200 deposit in cash, with no mention of it anywhere. After driving around to find an ATM, I was told the card reader apparently wasn’t working either. Don’t let the cheap rate fool you. Spend another 100 for a much, much better time. I would never recommend this place, not even to my in-laws.
