The bus is nearby, as is the E train, and parking in the lodge courtyard is tight. You're probably better off with a spot out front on Venice Blvd. If the choice is this place or the streets, I'd take the shelter here. The rooms are basic and functional, but you need to stay on top of your own bedding, towels, toilet paper, and toiletries. The atmosphere depends on who else is staying, and some nights can be rough. Former managers sprayed rooms for pests monthly, which helped control the situation. As of March '26, turning on the lights can reveal bugs scurrying across the floor or counter. They don't even seem to hide, and may approach if you sit still.

Dog friendly, with two beds, a fridge, TV, WiFi, bathtub and shower, and a closet. The rooms are plain, functional, and carpet-free, as you'd expect in an older motel. Service is hands-off unless you ask for something. The tenants have been quiet, and it's handy for the freeway, E Metrolink, and the 33 bus. Bring your own hair dryer, coffee maker, and microwave. You may also want to bring thicker towels and soap, since theirs is about the size of a matchbook. I've been here 3 nights and will update. My stars are based on an aging motel, not a chain hotel.

The room was clean and quiet, the staff were friendly, and the restroom was surprisingly spacious and laid out well. I didn't want to leave. For 78 bucks a night on the weekend, it also came with Direct TV, an ironing board and iron, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The only downside was the bed, which wasn't especially soft or comfortable.

It was a cheap stay, but the room and restroom needed work. The furniture was old, and the carpet, sheets, towels, and bathtub were stained. There weren't enough towels, and one had blood on it. Worst of all, I found a thong under the sheets. It makes me think housekeeping hadn't even washed them after the previous guest. Now I see why rooms were still available to book that night.

The remodeling looked well done, and the room was better than I expected. I'd stay again, but I'd ask for a room away from the outside of the building. People camping on the street right outside made a lot of noise, which was the last thing we needed after a long trip. I can watch my own YouTube videos, dawg.
