Mt Gleason Motorlodge

The front desk guy was nice and got us checked in quickly. Our room was fine, the sheets were clean and there were no bugs, though it did smell like smoke. We’d paid for a queen with a kitchenette, but the photos made it look misleadingly equipped. There were no gas hookups or microwave, just a sink and counter. We’d packed healthy food to cook breakfast and were disappointed by how it was represented.

The manager and staff on site are friendly, considerate, and accommodating, and I really enjoy the gardens and flower beds, which are lovely and well cared for. The parking area feels safe, has security cameras, good lighting, and is free of clutter and trash. Rooms are moderately priced, clean, and comfortable, with mini fridges and microwaves in every room. The windows and shutters have also recently been replaced. Staying here feels like home.

At 4:30 in the morning, I found bedbugs in my bed. When I asked for a refund, I was offered another room and threatened with the police if I didn’t leave. I was charged $90 plus a $5 key deposit, but the agreement he showed me said $70. The service was horrible. The room was very old, the sheets were ripped, and it smelled like cigarettes. The hand towels had black stains all over them. I’d give them zero stars if I could.

Despite being on a main street, the property is very quiet. There’s a McDonald's across the street, and other fast food spots and grocery stores are within half a mile. The room was very clean, with a good-sized kitchen, an apartment-sized refrigerator, and a microwave. The owners are polite and helpful. A very nice place to stay.
