Radisson Los Angeles Airport

The location was good, and the lobby looked great, but I wouldn't recommend this overpriced place to anyone. The room didn't match the lobby: paint was peeling, the ceiling had a crack, the carpet was sticky, and there were a few red spots by the restroom floor that should've been dealt with. One Sleep Number bed didn't work, and the shower flooded, with the water only draining after we turned it off. The bathroom door might not even close properly. Parking was valet only and cost $30. They also offered a complimentary LAX shuttle, said to come every 20 minutes on the hour. We went down around 8:15 expecting the 8:20, but waited until 8:40. The driver asked where we needed to go, then took the man behind us to his stop first and told us we could walk to ours. I thought the shuttle was meant to take us to our terminal. The valet also brought out the wrong car. I've had better service from a $5 valet. I wish I could give it zero stars. I'd rather stay at a motel, where parking would be free and the bathroom door might actually shut.

Parking was a rip-off. I bought a two-night pass for a conference, but it expired at checkout while the event was still going, so I had to buy another pass just to get out. They don't even run the lot, yet sell overpriced tickets for it. Then the lot fills up and there's nowhere to park. They shouldn't sell parking at all. The front desk always had a line, usually with only two attendants. I nearly cut myself on a hair dryer bracket they had failed to remove while I was looking for the bathroom light switch.

If being close to LAX is what you need, this place will do. Otherwise, there's not much to like. The hotel has no parking, only $30 valet, and the gym is mediocre. Wi-Fi worked but was quite slow. The rooms felt dated, with CRT TVs, how retro, and the staff seemed, well, unmotivated.

The hotel is an easy five-minute walk from the airport, under ten minutes to Terminal 7. On the way in I used the shuttle, then walked back. The first stretch is a bit grubby, along a path beside the road, but after that it goes through a pleasant, well-kept memorial park and rose garden. A nice bit of nature before the airport. I had a positive overnight at the Radisson LAX, despite the uninspiring but practical decor. The front desk person was efficient, helpful, and friendly. My room was clean and fine, and everything worked except the bed adjustment, though I couldn't be bothered to read its instructions. The desk lamps had plenty of outlets, handy for charging my laptop, phone, camera, tablet, and the rest.
