Residence Inn by Marriott Chatsworth

The staff were the best part of our week long stay, and everyone deserves kudos for their customer service. We came from Michigan to Chatsworth for an out patient surgery. Our suite was spacious and very clean, and the hotel was quiet and conveniently located.

The water pressure was EXTREMELY LOW. I should’ve known when the front desk person said they never book the room with the tub, but they didn’t explain why. I’m glad I didn’t book a long stay. It just keeps getting worse here. They’re taking a LA city fee from the room deposit without disclosing it. I found out by accident, and to me it looks like a hidden parking fee under another name. Don’t stay here. In this economy, take your hard earned money somewhere else. This is a nickel and dime lower class hotel, and others have mentioned the horrible customer service. I’m a Lifetime Gold Elite Marriott Rewards member and was denied late checkout, even though the hotel was less than half empty and California is in the middle of a recession. That makes no business sense and shows people without business backgrounds shouldn’t make decisions that affect future revenue. I’ll happily spend more at higher end hotels that don’t play these games.

It was quiet, though the floors and walls are a bit thin and I could hear people moving around. It wasn’t disruptive. The room itself was nice, spacious, and well appointed. The couch bed wasn’t amazing, but I didn’t expect it to be. The hotel is in a strip mall in a residential area, so it was quiet, but there wasn’t much within walking distance.

There was no advance notice from the staff. We called three days ahead to confirm the booking, then arrived to find a letter telling us our room wasn’t available because the hotel was fully booked. They’d decided to put us in another hotel down the street, where there weren’t two beds, just a fold out couch. They did pay for that room, but with someone sleeping on the couch I can’t really call that a positive. Very disappointing.
