Super 8 by Wyndham Canoga Park

I was comfortable here and would stay again. The room was large, clean enough for a nonsmoking room, and had comfy beds and a very cold fridge. The shower was better than I expected, with strong pressure and very hot water, though the showerhead could use a better cleaning to remove the hard water deposits. The sink's hot water didn't work. The heater warmed the room quickly on cold nights. Check-in was fast, the grounds were clean, and there was enough free parking. It's a pretty decent Super 8 in a safe area with metro routes nearby.

The room was quiet, spacious, and clean, and both the microwave and little fridge worked. Breakfast was very basic. I took off a star because the price felt a bit steep for what the place offers, even if it wasn't terrible.

I only stayed one night before continuing my travels around California. They were accommodating with my late arrival, and the night staff were very nice. My single king room was clean and well arranged. The bed was much more comfortable than the stiff ones I've had at other hotels.

I paid enough that I would've rather slept in my car, but I had my child with me. The room felt like lipstick on a pig. At check-in they handed over a list of rules like we were in a dorm, and only one key was included. An extra costs money. I'll include photos of some of this. Paint was peeling around the room, the sink cabinet looked badly built but was still installed, and opening the bathroom cabinet was a nightmare. There were even used false lashes left by a previous guest. The sink drain stopper outside the bathroom wouldn't lift, so the water wouldn't drain. I had to psych myself up for two hours before taking a shower. The table in the sitting area looked like scraps of old tables cobbled together, and the closet was disgusting, with a disgraceful hanging rod. There were no spare linens or pillows, and no iron or ironing board. The main door didn't fit its frame, letting bugs and the outside weather in. I was on the first floor and could hear the upstairs guest stomping early in the morning, nonstop, because the floors are hardwood rather than carpet. The so-called continental breakfast was in a tiny square space by the front desk. Frozen waffles were left out to thaw and came out droopy after toasting. There was no flavored creamer, cereal sat in plastic Rubbermaid containers, dried syrup was all over the counter, and there were no eggs or other protein. There wasn't a microwave in the room either, so bringing back restaurant leftovers wasn't practical. I was just sad staying there with my child. Best Western is where it's at!
