Travelodge Hollywood-Vermont/Sunset

Free parking and a budget-friendly price were a plus. The metro station was just up the street, and it was easy to buy a tap card; the transit maps were great too. The area seemed safe, and staff were friendly when we arrived. Our room was tiny, right at the bottom of the stairs, and people passing by could get loud. The walls were thin enough that we heard people throughout the place. We didn't use the pool, but had a laugh at it being right in the middle of the parking lot, with hardly any space to sit beside it. The room didn't smell old, though it could use a major update.

The location was great, right by the Vermont/Sunset metro station. Walking down Sunset, there are lots of interesting spots for coffee or a meal. I stayed two nights. It was a pretty standard motel, with a clean, ordinary room and a comfortable bed. I arrived late, after the front desk had closed, but a staff member checked me in through the small night window.

The room had decent equipment and the restroom was clean, so the hotel was otherwise okay for a reasonable stay. But the small room got cold, and running the heater continuously made the air feel extremely dry. I felt claustrophobic. The bed wasn't big enough for two, and what they called a blanket was one twin XL flannel sheet. We asked for another blanket so we could sleep comfortably without heating the room more. The night staff member was rude and asked, "Why do u need another blanket?" It was New Year and the hotel was sold out, so they said there were no extras, though I found it surprising they kept none for emergencies. He didn't listen to our problem. After we asked repeatedly, he offered extra bed sheets but rudely told us to come down to the front office to collect them.

The online photos made this look like a nice, affordable hotel, but they were misleading. The man at the front desk was rude when my husband and I checked in. Our room was filthy, dingy, and covered in hair, with bugs crawling on the bathroom floor. Even the bed had no fitted sheet. Whatever you might save on the cost isn't worth it. Steer clear.
