USA Hostels Hollywood

I was sad to leave after such an awesome stay. The employees were all so friendly, and I feel like I made some great friends in my room. Those gals were the coolest. The free outings to the beach or Hollywood Sign, the free food and drinks, and karaoke night? I was so there for it. I'd stay again.

The only thing that kept this from being a five-star stay was a slight smell near my room. It went away after a while, though maybe I just got used to it. Otherwise, I had a good two nights in room 117, a six-bed women's room with its own full bathroom. Staff kept both the room and the hostel's common space clean. I liked having a privacy screen and a locker, and both had two outlets for charging. There was only one full-length mirror in the room, and other roommates kept occupying it. I had to be somewhere early and couldn't get a proper look at myself while everyone was getting dressed. Luckily, there are bathrooms upstairs in the lounge. They had a free sandwich night and a BBQ night, which I skipped, but thought was a nice perk. I felt safe out walking both day and night. Good for a quick stay, and I'd come back. There are lots of things going on here, including karaoke and margaritas, BBQ, and a hike to the Hollywood sign. I only joined the karaoke, but it was a blast, and everyone on staff was warm and welcoming. They have a full kitchen with free coffee, juice, bread, fruit, and pancakes. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby if you don't want to cook, and Hollywood Blvd is close. If you're in a dorm, bring an eye mask and earplugs, or use the complimentary ones. Some people ignore quiet hours and turn the lights on and off, so you'll need them. The rooms have lockers, though you'll need your own lock or can buy one at the counter. You can also leave your luggage for the day after checkout. Public transport is close, just a couple of stops from Universal Studios. Great location and a fun stay. I'll be back.

I booked on my friends' recommendation without even looking around, and I'm glad I did. From the minute I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome, and that continued every day. I came without plans, so the activities and tours with Steven were informative and fun. The margarita and karaoke night with Lydia is one I'll always remember. She went out of her way to make it a great evening. Hannah and Andy were also so friendly to me and everyone else. They kept me from feeling lonely and made me feel like I had real friends on holiday. The hostel was clean, well run, and less than a minute's walk from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There were fun and talented staff from all over the world. I'd highly recommend it for a stay in LA, and can't wait to return.
