The shared dining room and living room were nice places to spend time, and there were comfortable spots to relax both indoors and out. Our room shared a bathroom with another room. I liked the inn’s history and character, and the room was comfortable. The attached restaurant is delicious if you can get a reservation. I gave service one star because I didn’t interact with staff before or during our stay, though luckily we didn’t need anything and had no problems. Great place!

I stayed in the Clemens Suite this time and really enjoyed the view. It made a lovely start and finish to each day. The bed was very comfortable, and the little fridge came in handy for the snacks I’d brought. It’s a great place to unwind. This was my second work stay here, and I’ve stayed in both suites now. I love the inn’s vintage charm, and all the rooms seem so thoughtfully decorated. I’ll definitely come back for a vacation.

The kitchen is such a good addition, and we’ve met people from all over the world while reading or playing games in the sitting room. We love the views and the setting, and Loyalton is a lovely little town to explore. The rooms all have their own style, and the beds are really comfortable. We’ve stayed more times than we can count and tell friends and family to visit too. The Gilded Drifter gets five stars from us!

We love recommending the Gilded Drifter to friends, and we’ll be back again and again. The whole stay feels completely unique. The old mansion is packed with antiques, books, and little treasures, with the kind of atmosphere that feels like a movie set. Rooms are spacious and bright, thoughtfully equipped, and the beds are very comfortable. Many look out over the Sierra Valley, which is beautiful in every season. Sunset from the Clemens Suite bay window is a real treat, and the patio and shared living room are both great places to hang out. Downstairs, The Drifter's Table serves excellent dinner and is worth visiting when it’s in season. For lunch, I highly recommend frog-sty, the cute burger and ice cream shack down the street. Smithneck farms is a nice stop for morning coffee and a pastry.

The free bikes are a fun way to explore this adorable town, and the internet is excellent. It’s quiet enough for a writing retreat or some solitude. I also love the homey kitchen, where I can take my time over a cup of pour-over coffee, and the warmth and detail throughout the rooms. Another fabulous stay at the Gilded Drifter. It’s the sort of place you almost hesitate to tell people about, since you worry you might never get a room if everyone finds out. Still, it’s an incredible experience and everyone should go!
