We booked a king room with a pullout for three at Double Tree Hotel Lubbock for February 13-14, but the room we got had only the king. After telling the desk, we were moved to a room with two queens, which wasn’t what we booked, but we were flexible. Housekeeping cleaned while we were out, and afterward my son’s Beats Headphones were missing from our locked room. The first desk clerk was rude and said everyone else had gone home because they were tired, so he couldn’t help. A woman called me around 10:30pm after I asked for a manager. She said she’d look into it and call back, but never did. On Saturday morning I spoke with the Assistant General Manager, who was nice and said he’d handle it and needed to talk to the GM on Monday. After we returned home to Dallas, he called Tuesday to say he was still waiting to speak with the GM. It’s March 8th now, and I’ve followed up several times since that Tuesday, February 17th call without a response. I’m still hoping they’ll resolve the issue with my son’s Christmas gift.

The restaurant on site was amazing, and the server made the whole visit for me. I wish I’d gotten her name. She was so sweet, spoke in the kindest voice and always came by with a smile. The workout area was really cool and larger than any hotel gym I’d seen, and the hotel itself was very nice. There’s a nice pool, though sadly no hot tub. I only stayed one Saturday night. I gave the location three stars because it didn’t seem like the safest part of town and parking looked limited. There’s also a Walmart literally across the street.

The shower head looked like it had never been cleaned properly, and after barely sleeping it made for a rough morning. We were in a second-floor room facing the open courtyard bar, which stayed noisy. I know the bar area itself wouldn’t be quiet, but I expected the rooms to block more sound. We booked with kids, yet Hilton Doubletree didn’t seem to account for families when assigning rooms. The bar’s last call was 11p, and it wasn’t quiet anytime soon after closing. Staff wouldn’t accommodate us unless we paid more to change rooms. The hotel is beautiful, but ask to stay elsewhere if you need peace around 10:30p. Worst experience ever.

I like the bar and restaurant area, with power outlets around if you need to work with a team. The meals were nice, and they have a proper espresso machine for good coffee drinks. Service was great from all the team members we met. The interiors have been updated nicely since my last stay, which was admittedly a while ago, and it was a pleasant surprise. For the price, service and location, I think it’s a nice place. The A/C in my room was great. One drawback is that you can hear people partying in the evening from your room. They should consider bedside white noise machines, like many downtown places use when outside noise is an issue.

The room was on the same floor as the lounge, reception and bar, so it was busy and noisy. At checkout, the reception staff just said sorry when we raised our concerns, with no offer of compensation. We wouldn’t recommend staying here. In room 102, moving the sofa revealed a shocking amount of old bottles, rubbish and dirt that seemed to have built up for a long time. We left the sofa pulled out so housekeeping would see it, but when we came back, they’d made the bed and cleaned the bathroom while leaving the floor untouched, apparently cleaning around the mess. The coffee maker was covered in thick dust and water stains and was unusable. Deep cleaning clearly isn’t a priority. After posting the review, Hilton corporate contacted us and offered some points to apologize for the experience.
