Homewood Suites by Hilton Lynchburg

The pool is supposed to be heated, but it was chilly, and the pool room was downright cold. Breakfast was also a letdown, with cold eggs and meat despite being meant to be served warm. Roberto at the evening desk was great about trying to sort out the heating problem. The thermostat didn't work well in either of our two rooms, one wouldn't go above 70 and the other 82, and one room stayed cold all night.

The room was clean, but smaller than the online photos made it look. The pool was fine, though there were no clean towels, and breakfast had very little hot food or fresh fruit. We had booked two queen beds for a work trip, but were told at arrival that only a king room was available. They offered a rollaway, but didn't help us set it up, and wouldn't refund the price difference or find another Hilton nearby with availability. I paid extra expecting more comfort, and regret it. I wouldn't return. A less expensive hotel might be a better experience.

Hilton’s Home2 felt like home for my family and me. The kitchenette was especially useful, and the rooms were clean. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Roberto and Katherine were particularly kind. I'd happily recommend staying here.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection, from breads and meats to eggs, waffles, spreads, tea, coffee, and milk. We also used the fridge and freezer in our roomy king suite, which had a pullout sofa bed and enough space for our group. The beds were only somewhat comfortable, but controlling the temperature was easy. One odd detail was the bathroom's sliding pocket door, which seems like a space saver but does lock, and the bathroom itself was laid out well. The elliptical in the small, basic fitness center didn't work. We skipped the pool. We were in town to move our sons into Liberty University and hadn't seen this hotel on our previous visit. It opened in fall 2024. Getting there from Wards Road or the highway was easy. It feels secluded, but shopping on Wards Road is only a couple of minutes away. The layout is straightforward, like other Home2Suites properties. I couldn't find much to complain about and would stay again on our next Liberty University visit.
