Courtyard by Marriott Lyndhurst Meadowlands

The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, and I woke up exhausted. The room also wasn’t cleaned to a professional standard, which is a basic health and safety expectation. I’ve been a Marriott guest for years, formerly Ambassador Elite and now Gold Elite, but during my Feb 28 - March 1 stay I felt completely overlooked. I don’t expect the world as a Gold member, just the basic Bonvoy recognition and benefits. The service felt indifferent, no different from what someone with no loyalty history would get. For a brand I usually trust, this property let me down across the board.

The bus stop is right up the block, and we got into Manhattan in about 10 minutes. Our rooms had all the essentials and were comfortable and clean. Robert and his team, including Joel and Christopher, were kind, helpful, and understanding throughout our stay. Robert even helped with some last-minute reservation changes so we could stay a couple more nights. It was Thanksgiving week and the hotel was very busy, but I saw Robert and the team looking after other guests too. I hope Courtyard Marriott recognizes how well Robert manages the hotel. The staff were accommodating, and we found the hotel clean and comfortable in a peaceful setting. We had a good stay overall. We did spot a pair of dirty white socks behind the night table, though, and the blinds wouldn’t shut all the way. I hope those things can be fixed for future guests.

The reservation was $154, but I was charged $210 for only four hours in the room. For that price, I didn’t see the service quality to match. The shower pressure was so intense it felt like getting blasted by a pressure washer at a car wash. There wasn’t a microwave in the room, and the coffee service was disgusting. Way too expensive for what you get.
