Garner Hotel Macon West by IHG

The room had a few cosmetic issues: leftover conditioner on the shower wall, a patched and painted gouge in the tub, missing grout between some bathroom tiles, and sticky residue on the back of the door that collected dirt. Those details were unpleasant, though nothing stopped the room from functioning, and we still had a pleasant stay. The staff we met were great, and we’d stay again if we’re back in Macon. I was wary of trying an unfamiliar hotel because I’ve had too many bad experiences, but my husband booked Garner Hotel in Macon as a halfway stop on our trip. It turned out to be quiet, quite nice, and easy to reach from the highway. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. We were put in an accessible room because those were the only rooms with a bathtub.

The rooms feel comfortable, with some updated touches, and the location is hard to beat. It’s surrounded by restaurants, Walmart, shopping plazas, and Lowe’s, with highway access right next door. Everyone we encountered, from housekeeping through the general manager, was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They clearly care about both their guests and their work. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

We needed a pet-friendly place for an overnight stop while traveling with our dog. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was handy for shops and the highway. Coffee in the lobby was good. Breakfast was just okay.

Breakfast had barely anything, and there weren’t proper bed covers, just what looked like cheap Walmart covers thrown on. We pay a lot through our timeshare and got this kind of poor quality. The room was accessible, the AC and heater didn’t work, and highway noise was unbearable. People banged on our door at 1:15 AM. They charged $60 for one night for our pets despite advertising as pet friendly, and the front desk didn’t ask at checkout whether things were okay. We won’t be back.
