The rooms have all been redone since the hurricane, and they’re super clean and nicely done. It’s a smaller place, roughly 12 to 15 rooms, though I can’t remember exactly. The pool area is fantastic, and there’s designated parking Outback. The beach is right across from the property, about a minute’s walk to the water, and there are several great restaurants within a five-minute walk. Crabbys restaurant has next-level seafood chowder, and I’ll go back just for that. The staff were fantastic and kept checking for cancellations so I could stay another night, but only one night was available. I was in the area for a few days and was glad I found this place. I’ll book again for a longer stay, hopefully in October.

The second room was much better, with a better bed and no roaches, and the Colombian guy who checked us in was kind and helpful. I appreciated being moved, and it wasn’t his fault. I was ready to leave, but the policy said no refunds, so I stayed the second night. Still, nobody called back after saying they’d ask the manager whether they could offer a night in the nicer room or something to make up for the first night. I called three times. I have a video, and since nobody followed up, I’ll contact my bank. I understand no refunds in a typical situation, but this wasn’t okay. I live locally and like supporting local businesses, so it makes me sad to write a negative review. I hadn’t complained about the bed, but roaches are where I draw the line. It felt like they thought moving us solved everything, even though I’d lost a whole night of sleep worrying they might crawl in my ears. After going to get food, I came back to find a live roach that looked like a German cockroach. It was after hours, so I didn’t know what to do. I put my toothbrush in the fridge and moved my belongings out of the way. I had to work the next day and needed sleep, but I was scared there were more. We left the lights on, and I tossed and turned. Then I saw another live roach in the bathroom. It crawled into a tiny hole under the shower before I could kill it, so I plugged the hole with toilet paper. The bed in room 38 was awful too. I could feel the springs, it sagged in the middle, and it hurt my back. The pillows were bad as well. We were freezing, with no heater and only the blanket on the bed.

The best parts were the price and free parking, though parking was only free if you booked on the hotel website. The pool area looked nice, but we didn’t use it. Staff were friendly when we could find them. I’m sure there are cleaner rooms at a similar price, and I left disappointed. I booked a two-night weekend despite the mixed reviews, and the room was filthy. Our feet got stained walking around barefoot. There was dust in the wardrobe and dirt in the corners. It looked like the hurricane repairs had been done as cheaply as possible, with paint on the floors, shower curtain, and sink. The shower had no hot water. The bed was massively uncomfortable, like sleeping on the floor, and the blanket was tiny and paper-thin.

The beach is literally across the street, and the Reef restaurant next door serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a convenient, quaint place, and we can’t wait to return. We had a wonderful stay and don’t understand the bad reviews. It’s an older Fl. Motel, but it’s been redone nicely. Everyone on staff we met was friendly and accommodating, and I really enjoyed the pool. This place is extremely underrated!

This was my eighth visit, for business and vacation, and every stay has been great. The service is outstanding, and the area feels safe and beautiful, with good people, restaurants, bars, and the beach nearby. My girlfriend and I were both happy with the view and found the room very cozy and clean. The guy at the front desk gave great service.
