The room and bathroom were clean, but after this stay we’ll avoid these owners if we can. The price started at $64 and came to $106 with taxes and fees, despite the owner saying this was the cheapest hotel in Madill. It wasn’t. We paid for each night over a week, then travel problems meant we left at noon on the final day, even though we’d paid for that night. Room 116 had a musty, water-damaged smell. The owners sprayed air freshener whenever they cleaned, which made me think they knew about it. I also had to call repeatedly to get anyone to the front desk, even though the owners live behind it. Often their preteen daughter came out, and several times nobody answered or showed up. They also stopped the hot breakfast my family had enjoyed each morning for a week, saying nobody ate it and everyone complained. On my first day, I told the male owner I’d lost my key because I have a brain injury and often lose things. He said rudely, “I gave you two yesterday, I do not understand 😒,” when I asked for another key to the room we’d paid for. Later, we suggested a friend stay there. I translated English and Spanish to help him arrive. Two days after that, the female owner came into our room to clean and immediately told me to tell the man next door he had to pay that day. I said he was staying separately, was 54, and knew what he needed to do. She scoffed, and her husband told her to butt out. She said she’d only asked because I’d translated for him once. He speaks English well and is bilingual, and translating was never my responsibility. She was involved in customer service despite being consistently unkind. I watched the male owner’s mannerisms at the desk and concluded his wife was covering up his true sexuality, which I thought might explain why she was often angry. The laundry dryer barely dried half a load after I put in $3.25. The owner made excuses, first saying outside that it wasn’t putting out hot air, then changing his mind and saying it was. Without my asking, he added another $3 and said it needed more time all at once, which was less time than I’d just paid for. When the cycle ended and the clothes were still wet, he said it was my problem and suggested I spend my own money at a laundromat in town. After we’d paid around $1,000, give or take, over about a week and a half, I attached the owners’ response to my detailed, honest review so people could see how they appreciate customers.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, but we’ll avoid these owners if we can. The advertised $64 came to $106 after taxes and fees. We paid for every night of a weeklong stay, though travel problems meant we left at noon on the last day after paying for that night. We were looking after our very young baby in the room and felt judged and minimized for minding our own business. Room 116 smelled musty and water-damaged. On the first day, the front desk man, who said he was the owner, spoke down to me when I said I’d lost my key. My fiancée had it at work, and I’d explained that I have a brain injury and often forget things. He replied, “I gave you two yesterday, I don’t understand 😒,” as though replacing a key for our paid room cost him a lot. My family had enjoyed breakfast each morning for over a week, but he stopped serving it, saying nobody ate it and everyone complained. It seemed like we didn’t matter. We’d suggested that a friend stay there, and I translated English and Spanish to make his arrival easier. Two days later, the owner’s wife came in to clean and, before I could say hello, told me I needed to tell the man next door to pay that day. I explained that he was a separate guest, 54 years old, and knew what he needed to do. She scoffed, and her husband told her to butt out. She said she’d asked because I’d translated for him the other day, as if that made it my ongoing obligation. Our friend had his own room, speaks English very well, and is bilingual. The wife was unkind and always involved, though I don’t think she should be handling customer service. The laundry room has a washer and dryer that looked new and cost very little to use. I put $3.25 into the dryer for half a load I’d just washed there, but the clothes barely dried. When I told the owner, he scrambled to explain it. He took me outside and said it wasn’t blowing hot air, then changed his mind and said it was. He added another $3 without me asking, saying it needed more time at once, which was less than I’d just paid for. The clothes were still wet after the cycle, and he told me it was my problem, then pointed me to a laundromat in town where I could spend my own money. I attached the owners’ response after paying nearly $1,000 in about a week and a half, so people could see their customer appreciation.

The free breakfast had cereal, eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, danishes, and more, and they were quick to help with anything we needed. The soda machine only takes coins, but the drinks were really cold. There are lots of places to eat, gas stations, a car wash, a church, banks, and Walmart nearby, along with Dollar General and the local highway. I was here for my son’s basketball tournament in Kingston, OK, about a 10-15 minute drive from the gym. Our boys lost, so we didn’t need the extra night, and the staff made that situation right. This will be my go-to place if I’m in that area again.

Glad I picked this place. The shower got plenty hot and had good pressure, the beds were comfortable, and the room was clean without any odd smell. I was extremely happy with my stay.

The room was very clean and the air conditioning worked great, but the bed was so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor. We woke up sore. The toilet wasn’t working until we took off the tank lid and untangled the chain, and the only ice maker was broken, so we had to go buy ice. No one was at the front desk when we arrived, and we had to wait. The location was convenient, but booking directly with the inn cost about fifty dollars more. We won’t stay here again.
