I won’t return. This man’s attitude made me uncomfortable the whole time, including how he treated the people ahead of me during check-in and then how he spoke to me. I tried to sit in the lobby with my morning coffee for a few minutes. There were three seats, and no one else was there besides the owner. He told me to leave because of a policy, saying other people needed the seats, even though nobody else was around.

The room was cheap and had a shower, but the problems felt like a real health hazard and could cost more in the long run. I woke with a rash in several places, and finding rat droppings in the blanket didn’t surprise me by then. The carpet was sticky, slimy, dirty, and hard to recognize as its original color. The floor sagged in the middle, leaving the toilet crooked so the seat wouldn’t stay up. I’m too tall to hold it up while using it. The key card only worked after seven tries. The internet was slow and unreliable, and the ungrounded electricity made my chargers overheat. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, and there was outside drama for anyone who likes Jerry springer. I found a roadside mattress miles away that was cleaner and in better shape, so I put it in my truck and decided to camp there instead. ITS A TRAP!!!

The pool was clean and nice, though still a bit chilly early in the season. It had all the proper safety equipment, but no lifeguard. My kids had a great time swimming, and I felt safe overall. The maintenance man was nice and helpful, but lingered near my 8-year-old daughter more than I was comfortable with. The area is busy, and I saw plenty of young couples walking around. This was decent for the price and worked well for our outings to the Detroit zoo, Cranbrook science institue, Lego Land, the Greektown casino, and Belle isle, among other places. McDonalds is next door, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, plus a liquor store on every corner. It’s a good location for activities. If the place did a little more for families, such as a small park, pool toy rentals, or local deals for bowling and other popular family fun, it could be great. For now, there’s a dollar tree about five minutes away that sells decent pool supplies. The room was clean and quiet, and the people were nice, but it had no fridge, microwave, or working phone. Most of the listed amenities are nearby activities, not things at the hotel. There’s no golf course or restaurant/bar on site, and despite a sign, no ice machine. Nobody gave me information, and there wasn’t a directory. The included “Breafast” was a paper bag with juice, two granola bars, and a mini muffin.
