The rooms were clean, and the place worked well for hosting a continuing education program. The pillows weren’t very comfortable, though.

The wedding itself was lovely. The Fluno Center is a beautiful space with great views, clean, spacious rooms, and excellent staff. Our family was impressed by how the event managers kept in touch with our parents and helped the evening run smoothly. They brought me appetizers twice, told us when certain ones were running low, and let us know when dinner could be served. The dining staff were wonderful too. Guests liked the food so much that they’re still talking about dinner and how good the hotel breakfast was. We also tried the food at Smitty's Pub on Thursday and enjoyed it. On Friday, we met Mr. Fluno, who was there for an event. The tasting was held on Friday afternoon with a small group and the chef. He helped shape the menu around our preferences and dietary needs, and was thoughtful about both the presentation and taste. Friends with complicated dietary needs felt well looked after and still talk about how accommodating everyone was. We were also happy with the rates and rental and food costs compared with other venues. Being downtown meant we could get the Madison experience, with things in walking distance and reminders of the university all around. The room prices seemed reasonable for the area, and I’d host collaborators and future events here. A few things made the evening harder. Servers cleared food and drinks before people had finished: when I stepped away to use the restroom, my half-eaten meal and half-full drink were gone. Friends had to ask them to leave things at the table for guests who’d stepped away. We had until midnight to leave, but the team moved our decorations to other tables to reset for breakfast by 11:15. We were out by 11:30, and felt rushed. Planning communication was also a little challenging, and we had to clarify expectations and follow up regularly. We were told our event contact would be there on the wedding day, then found out the day before that other staff would cover, so we scrambled to update our vendors’ contact details. We did appreciate having both a rain plan and a good-weather plan, with the final call made on the day. The rooms were ready early, so setup went quickly, though we had to arrange for family and friends to do it for us that day. All in all, the location, food, price, atmosphere, and the way guests were accommodated made for a solid experience. We’d be happy to visit again.

The downtown Madison location is great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean, and the rooms were nice. Absolutely phenomenal!

The conference facilities were in great shape, and the dining room served excellent food every day. It’s a fantastic place for events. Room prices were a different story: the front desk quoted me $210 a night, while the DoubleTree across the street was $159. There wasn’t a major event, conference, or game in town that week, so I found the rate unusually high compared with nearby choices.

I only visited the bar on the top floor, but it’s a great little hidden spot. Good drinks and great service.
